The BMW R 60 is a German motorcycle that was presented to the public for the first time in 1956. Its production took place in the years 1956-1960 at the BMW AG plants in Munich. The motorcycle was powered by a single, two-cylinder boxer engine with a capacity of 28 HP. In total, approximately 3,500 examples of this vehicle were produced. The motorcycle could reach a top speed of 145 km / h. The BMW R 60, like the R 50 and R 69 models, used a wishbone suspension on both axles introduced by BMW in 1955, which replaced the slide suspension - it was used from 1938 in the company's motorcycles. The R 60 model was based on the R 67/3 model, taking over several structural elements as well as a virtually unchanged engine. However, it was adapted to be used without a sidecar and had - the aforementioned - completely new suspension. In 1960, the BMW R 60/2 model was put into production, with an engine with a slightly higher maximum power.
