Toyota Mark II (another name: Toyota Cressida) is a Japanese compact car and a mid-range car, produced by Toyota Motor Corporation, which was first presented to the public in 1968. Its production started the same year and lasted until 2004. It was concentrated at Motomachi plants in Japan. The Mark II model was developed and put into production in order to expand the commercial offer of the Toyota concern, as well as as a completely new car without its direct predecessor. Toyota Mark II was developed almost from scratch to meet the new regulations and requirements for motor vehicles that appeared in Japan in the late 1960s. The Toyota concern also wanted to present a new car in the lower-middle and middle class and to take advantage of possible turbulences related to the new legislation on the domestic market. The model turned out to be successful and was delivered to nine generations, which were mostly powered by cylinder engines with a capacity of 2.0 to 2.5 liters. There were also several body versions, and the Mark II was offered as, among others: 4-door sedan, 5-door station wagon or 2-door coupe.
