The Chevrolet Impala is an American upper-middle class passenger car, produced by the General Motors concern, which was first presented to the public in 1958. Its serial production took place in the years 1958-1985, 1994-1996 and has been going on since 2000 until the present day, so it is one of the longest-produced cars in the history of the concern. Production took place or is still taking place in several places, including: Detroit or Saint Louis in the USA, and Oshawa in Canada. The Impala model was designed and implemented for production in order to supplement the company's commercial offer and to expand the offer of the upper and upper-middle class segment. Initially, it was offered under the name Bel Air Impala, but later the name was shortened. The car was characterized by a very rich and luxurious equipment, good performance and style, becoming one of the symbols of the American automotive industry at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s. The car was offered in several body versions, incl. as: 2-door convertible, 2-door coupe or 4-door sedan. It also offered a wide range of engines with a displacement of up to 7.4 liters. The Chevrolet Impala turned out to be a great market success in the US - more than 12.5 million units of the car were sold between 1958 and 1996.
