PANTHER BRASS 75MM PROJECTILES

Cannon 7,5 cm KwK 42 L / 70 is a German 75mm tank gun from the Second World War. The gun was developed at the Rheinmetall-Borsig AG plants and was the basic armament of such vehicles as the Pz.Kpfw V Panther or the Jagdpanzer IV L / 70. The KwK 42 cannon is considered to be one of the best tank guns from the Second World War. It stood out on the battlefield with very good ballistic parameters, incredible accuracy and the ability to penetrate the armor of enemy vehicles. Several types of ammunition were used in this gun. The first was the Panzergranate (PzGr.) 39/42, which was an APCBC-HE (Armor Piercing, Capped, with Ballistic Cap - High Explosive) missile. The mass of the missile itself was 7.2 kg, and the initial speed was up to 935 m / s. Such a missile could penetrate an armor plate with a slope of 30 degrees, 112 mm thick at a distance of 1000 meters, 99 mm thick at a distance of 1500 meters and 89 mm at a distance of 2000 meters. The second type of cartridge was the PzGr. 40/42 Hk. It was an APCR (Armor Piercing, Composite Rigid) missile, i.e. it was an anti-tank core missile. In this case, the initial speed was as high as 1130 m / s. This missile could penetrate an armored plate at an angle of 30 degrees, 149 mm from 1000 meters, 127 mm from 1500 meters and 106 mm from 2000 meters. Sprenggranate 42 (Sprgr. 42) shells were also used in the KwK 42 gun.
