The ERC 90 Sagaie is a modern French wheeled reconnaissance combat vehicle. The first prototypes were built in 1975, and serial production started in the early 1980s and is still going on. So far, about 410 vehicles of this type have been built. The drive is provided by a single Peugeot V-6 PRV engine with a capacity of 155 HP. The armament of the vehicle consists of a single 90mm GIAT F4 cannon and two 7.62mm AAT M52 machine guns. The ERC 90 Sagaie was developed by Panhard on the basis of the VCR wheeled armored personnel carrier. The new car was subjected to very intensive tests by the French army in the period 1978-1980 and, after introducing the necessary corrections and modifications, it entered mass production. The car was designed as a light reconnaissance vehicle with the greatest possible firepower. It has a steel and composite armor up to 10 mm thick, which provides protection against small arms and artillery shell fragments. The car also has a long range (up to 700 km) and good performance, especially a top speed of up to 95 km / h. The car has a very limited ability to negotiate water obstacles. The main user of the ERC 90 Sagaie is France, but the car has been and is still exported to countries such as Argentina, Chad and Gabon. Spain undertook license production of this vehicle under the name Lynx. Vehicles of this type were used in combat, among others, in the war in the Persian Gulf (1990-1991) or in the course of actions in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period 1992-1995.
