The BP-43 is a Soviet WWII armored train that entered service in 1943. It is assumed that a total of 21 such trains were produced. Its length was 19 meters, and the maximum speed did not exceed 45 km / h. The armor ranged from 50 to 60 mm, and the armament included 6 76.2 mm guns in the T-34 turrets and 12.7 mm DsZK machine guns. The armored train BP-43 was developed on the basis of the experience related to the high losses of OB-3 trains suffered at the beginning of the German-Soviet war. These experiences led to the fact that in the new train the emphasis was primarily on very strong artillery weapons and the greatest possible ability to repel enemy air attacks. It was also decided to use the PR-43 locomotive. Most of these assumptions were successfully implemented, as a result of which the BP-43 turned out to be an effective armored train that served until the end of World War II.
