GAZ 61-73 4X4

The GAZ-61 was a Soviet off-road vehicle from the Second World War. The vehicle had a total length of 4.67 meters, a width of 1.75 meters, and a wheelbase of 2.85 meters. It reached a maximum speed of 100 km / h. The car could carry a load of 350 kilograms. The drive was a GAZ-11A engine with a capacity of 3.5 liters and a maximum power of 85 HP, synchronized with a 3-speed manual gearbox. The GAZ-61 was developed on the basis of the GAZ-1173 limousine, taking over many mechanical components from it and was to replace the unsuccessful GAZ-21 car. It was also supposed to be the new, basic staff and service car for Red Army officers. It also uses all-wheel drive, which positively influenced its off-road ability. Mass production of this quite successful car lasted from 1941 to 1945, but the bulk of it was in 1941. The exact number of GAZ-61 cars produced is uncertain, with estimates ranging from about 180 to about 240 copies. It is worth adding, however, that several versions of this car were created in the course of production, including: GAZ-61-73 (basic version), GAZ-61-415 (prototype version with a pick-up body) or GAZ-61-40 (cabriolet). One of the produced GAZ-61s was driven by Ivan Konev.
