PAZ-653 is a Soviet sanitary truck from the post-war period. The first copies of the PAZ-651 vehicle family (to which the PAZ-653 also belonged) appeared in the late 1940s, and their serial production continued in 1950-1973. The drive was provided by a single 70 HP 6-cylinder engine. The power transmission was provided by a 4-speed manual and unsynchronized gearbox. The bus offered up to 20 seats, with a total of 23 seats. The PAZ-651 family of buses was developed based on the chassis and engine used in the GAZ-51 truck. Besides, the GAZ plants supplied the chassis for the production of these buses. The front of this family of vehicles also did not differ significantly from the GAZ-51. On the other hand, in the middle and rear part there is a passenger compartment, connected, however, with the driver's cabin. On the basis of the basic version of the PAZ-651 bus, the PAZ-653 model was quickly developed, which was produced in 1950-1956. It was a sanitary vehicle, capable of transporting 4 stretchers with a medical staff member. In this version, the sanitary compartment was not connected to the driver's cabin.
