The Kohkidosha (Koh-Ki for short) is a contemporary Japanese wheeled lightweight transport vehicle with high mobility. The drive is provided by a single Toyota diesel engine with a capacity of 4.1 liters and a power of 170 HP. The car is 4.91 meters long and 2.15 meters wide. The weight of an empty car reaches 2.25 tons. The top speed is up to 105 km / h. Kohkidosha was initially developed and constructed as a grassroots initiative of the Toyota automotive concern. It was based - and is still based - on many components used in the civilian Toyota Mega Cruiser, offered primarily on the domestic automotive market. In general, the car is modeled on the American HMMWV car, but is not a simple copy of it, and particular emphasis was placed on the ability to drive off-road and the possibility of translating soldiers in full equipment. The Kohkidosha is currently in service with the Japanese Self-Defense Forces (JGSDF) and has replaced the Isuzu and Toyota Type 73 Chugata vehicles in the line.
