MS Piłsudski had a gross displacement at the time of launching about 14,300 tons, and its total length was 162 m and a width of 21.6 meters. The maximum speed was up to 18 knots. MS Piłsudski was designed and launched in connection with the change in the business assumptions of the Polish shipping lines of the PTTO, which in the second half of the 1930s decided to change the nature of their North American voyages from transporting emigrants to transporting tourists. Moreover, the ships serving this line (eg SS Kościuszko) were more and more worn-out and obsolete. In 1932, a decision was made to build two new units (MS Batory and precisely MS Piłsudski), and the construction was commissioned to the Italian shipyard Cantieri Riuniti dell 'Adriatico. MS Piłsudski , after being commissioned into service, it was one of the most luxurious and most modern passenger ships in the Polish Navy, and the interior design of the cabins and spaces was carried out by eminent Polish artists of that time. At the same time, however, in the course of operation, it turned out to be free from errors, which were systematically removed, and above all, the conclusions resulting from them were included in MS Batory. In the period 1936-1939 MS Piłsudski served in the North American direction on the Gdynia-New York line. At the outbreak of World War II and during the September campaign, the unit was in the Atlantic and quickly came under British command. In October 1939, the use of the ship as an auxiliary cruiser was considered, but the project was abandoned. MS Piłsudski sank in unknown circumstances on November 26, 1939.
