Mode was a Swedish destroyer whose keel was laid in 1900, launched in 1901, and commissioned in 1902. The total length of the ship was 67.8 meters and a width of 6.25 meters. Full displacement reached approx. 450 tons, and the maximum speed slightly exceeded 29 knots. The destroyer was armed with 6 57 mm guns and 2 single 450 mm torpedo tubes. Destroyer Mode was created in connection with the desire of the Swedish admiralty to acquire at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries the most modern torpedo-armed ship that would follow the rapidly changing trends in the development of this type of ships at that time. The construction of the vessel was commissioned to the British Yarrow shipyard, and particular emphasis was placed on the speed of the vessel. The contractor performed his task very well and, as a result, Mode was the fastest ship of her class in the Baltic Sea when she entered service! Interestingly, however, from the moment of entering the service, the unit played primarily the role of a school unit. Shortly before 1914, it was modernized, inter alia, by adding a radio station. Mode remained in service until 1928.
