Amiral Duperré was a French armored battleship from the second half of the 19th century. The keel for this unit was laid in 1876, the launch took place in 1879, and the entry into service in the Marine Nationale - in 1883. The total length of the ship was 98.9 meters and a width of 20.4 meters. The displacement was around 11,200 tons and the maximum speed was around 14 knots. The deck armament, at the time of launching, consisted of 4 340 mm guns and 15 140 mm guns. Amiral Duperré was built at the shipyard in La Seyne-sur-Mer on the Mediterranean Sea. She was the first armored ship in the French Navy whose main artillery was placed in barbets. It is worth remembering, however, that the medium caliber artillery was placed in the most traditional way - on the sides of the winding, similarly to sailing ships. The Amiral Duperré was one of its kind, but the experience of its construction and operation had a huge impact on the Amiral Baudin class. The unit, almost immediately after entering service, was directed to the Mediterranean Sea. In 1888, one of the guns exploded on the ship. After this accident, the ship underwent renovation, and a few years later she was transferred to the Northern Fleet. From 1906, Amiral Duperré acted as a target ship, and in 1909 was finally decommissioned.
