La Grande Hermine is a French three-masted karaka from the early 16th century. She was the vessel where the famous explorer and explorer Jacques Cartier sailed on June 15, 1535 to the Saint-Pierre Islands near Newfoundland. La Grande Hermine was also used by Cartier to explore the mouth of the St. Lawrence and the discovery of its existence by Europeans! It is assumed that the image of this ship is pictured in the present-day flag of the dependent territory of Saint Pierre and Miquelon. The original unit did not survive to our times, but in 1967 a replica was made for the Montreal World Exhibition. During this exhibition, as well as for the next 30 years, it acted as a floating restaurant. Unfortunately, it is now abandoned.
