Special Operations Craft - Riverine (SOC-R for short) is a highly specialized, motorized combat boat, 10 m long and approx. 3 m wide. Its maximum speed reaches 40 knots, and its range is approx. 125 nautical miles (approx. 230 kilometers). The unit is armed with, among others: 2 heavy GAU-17 machine guns cal. 7.62 mm or a single M2HB machine gun cal. 12.7 mm. Special Operations Craft - Riverine is currently used by the US Navy to carry out special forces missions on rivers, waterways and coasts. Units of this type replaced in the PBR line (Patrol Boat, River). They are significantly faster, more maneuverable and - most likely - better armored than their predecessors. The SOC-R boats are used almost exclusively by Special Boat Team 22 (SBT-22) based in Stennis, Mississippi. Boats of this type can be transported both by the C-130 Hercules planes, and they can also be slung under the MH-47 helicopters.
