Le Superbe was a French liner from the late 18th century. The unit was launched in 1784. The ship was built in a shipyard in the city of Brest in France. The vessel was 56 m long and 14.9 m wide. Its displacement was about 1950 tons. The ship was armed with 74 deck guns. Le Superbe was created in connection with the desire to strengthen the French fleet after the end of the US War of Independence in 1775-1783. The new unit was based on plans by Jacques Noel Sane. The unit received a fitting made of copper sheets on the hull, which on the one hand improved its performance, and on the other hand - had a very positive effect on the extension of the hull's life. This practice became almost a rule in the French fleet in the 1770s. The unit, despite good sea bravery and good performance, did not have a long combat career, because it sank on January 30, 1795 as a result of a storm.
