M SOVIET DRAISINE KRASNAJA ZVEZDA

The Krasnaya Zvezda armored draisine (Russian: red star) is a self-propelled, armored and prototype rail vehicle of Soviet production from the Second World War. The prototype of this vehicle was developed at the beginning of 1942 in Kujbyszewskie Zakłady Budowy Parowozów. It is worth adding that a well-known locomotive constructor, Eng. Lebedieński. During the work on this trolley, two internal combustion engines were used, each of which was responsible for the movement of the vehicle in a different direction. The main armament was a 76.2 mm gun placed in the KW-1 turret, which was located at the top of the draisine hull. In addition, Krasnaya Svisit was armed with machine guns - including an anti-aircraft rifle. However, in the course of trials and tests, the draisine showed many technical shortcomings and turned out to be not very successful. First of all, for this reason, it did not enter mass production.
