The English term Bomb Disposal Technician (abbreviated: BDT) can be applied to the Polish sapper or, better, to a specialist responsible for neutralizing explosives. This neutralization is usually carried out in two ways: either by controlled detonation of the charge (EOD) or by its disposal by disconnecting the detonators (IEDD). The tasks of BDT include: neutralization of misfires or disposal of explosives (e.g. bombs, sea and land mines or the so-called fugas). Most often, BDTs serve in the armed forces of a given country or in various types of uniformed formations of that country. Currently, they basically always use special safety suits (bomb suits), which are to minimize the effects of a possible explosion, and at the same time allow for the most precise execution of tasks. Sapper robots are also widely used in Western countries. It is worth adding that in the case of BDTs serving in the British Army, the entire training cycle takes up to 36 months.
