The ZBD-04 is a modern Chinese tracked infantry fighting vehicle. The drive is provided by a single 670 HP diesel engine. The first prototypes of the vehicle were created in the early 1990s, and the car entered mass production in 1997 at the earliest, but it was not accepted into the line until 2006. The armament consists of a 100 mm cannon, a 30 mm automatic cannon, a single 7.62 mm machine gun, and 4 HJ-8 anti-tank guided missile launchers. The ZBD-04 was developed as the successor of the Type 86 vehicle and, compared to its predecessor, has an engine with greater maximum power, much more powerful weapons and - most likely - much more extensive electronics. The ZBD-04 is able to carry up to 7 landing soldiers, and its armor provides them with protection against small arms fire with a caliber of up to 14.5 mm and against fragments of artillery shells. It is worth adding that the ZBD-04A version has reinforced armor, probably protecting against fire from weapons with a caliber of up to 30 mm. The basic version (designation ZBD-04) has the ability to overcome water obstacles without any special preparation. There are also many indications that the ZBD-04 has a modern fire control system.
