T448P CZECHOSŁOWACKA LOKOMOTYWA SPALINOWA

The CKD T448p is a series of diesel locomotives, produced in the period 1973-1989 in the Czechoslovakian CKD Praga plant. The service weight of the locomotive is 72 tons, and its length with buffers is 13.58 meters. Wheel diameter 1000 mm with Bo'Bo 'axle arrangement. The T448p locomotives are designed primarily for industrial and cargo transportation. The advantages of this design include undoubtedly a low axle load (approx. 18 tons per axle) and relatively large power, which makes these locomotives highly versatile and allows them to work even on poor surfaces. The locomotive also has a relatively small turning radius. It is worth adding that for the Czechoslovak railways, a modernized version of this locomotive, designated T466.2, was built, in which the weight was reduced, the maximum speed was increased and lubricated wheel rims were introduced. The T448p locomotives were imported to Poland in the years 1976-1989 in the number of 161 copies. As in the then Czechoslovakia, they were used for industrial transport - especially in coal mines. Currently, a large number of them (about 100-120) are in the hands of private carriers.
