Jeanne d'Arc was a French armored cruiser from the beginning of the 20th century and World War I. The keel for this unit was laid in 1896, and the launch took place in June 1899. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 145.4 meters and the width was 19.4 meters. The displacement reached approx. 11,100 tons, and the maximum speed was approx. 22 knots. The armament at the time of launching consisted of: two 194 mm guns, 14 guns of 138.6 mm caliber and two 450 mm torpedo tubes. Jeanne d'Arc represented a relatively new type among French armored cruisers. Compared to the previous Pothuau type, it had more than twice the displacement and was definitely longer (by about 30 meters). It was also characterized by higher maximum speed and stronger artillery armament. It also received much better armor. Overall, she was quite a successful ship, but the rapid development of naval technology made Jeanne d'Arc a training ship from 1912. However, with the outbreak of World War I, it began to perform patrol functions in the English Channel, and in the period 1915-1917 it operated in the eastern Mediterranean. In 1918, she escorted convoys sailing on the USA-France route. In the years 1919-1929 she was again a training ship, and in 1934 she was removed from the fleet list.
