Kubuś was a Polish light armored car (armored personnel carrier) from the Second World War that served during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. Only one copy of this vehicle was built. The armament of the car consisted of a single 7.62 mm DP machinegun or wz. K. The decision to build Kuba was made at the beginning of the fighting in Warsaw, probably on August 8, 1944. Its originator is considered to be Captain Cyprian Odorkiewicz, pseud. Krybar. The structure of the car was based on the frame of a Chevrolet model 157 truck with a capacity of 3 tons, which was licensed in Warsaw before the outbreak of World War II. In conditions of material shortages and in the course of combat, the vehicle was built - from scratch - in 13 days! The car was ready on August 23, 1944, when it also underwent its baptism of fire during the fighting at the University of Warsaw building. The vehicle was immobilized and excluded from fighting on September 6. Kubuś was probably the only armored car made independently by the underground in occupied Europe. The vehicle has survived and today it can be seen at the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw - its replica is on display at the Warsaw Uprising Museum.
