STALINIEC S-60

Staliniec S-60 was a Soviet tracked tractor from the interwar period and World War II. The first prototypes of this vehicle were made in 1933. Serial production was carried out in the years 1933-1937. The vehicle was manufactured at the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant. The design of the Staliniec S-60 tractor was largely based on the solutions used in the American Caterpillar Sixty tractor. It can even be assumed that it was a slightly modernized copy of it. Theoretically, the vehicle was to be produced primarily for the needs of Soviet agriculture and mechanized it. In practice, however, many of these vehicles found their way into the equipment of the Red Army, where they were used as artillery tractors. It is worth adding that they worked very well in this role, due to the powerful engine and relatively simple and solid structure. A lot of vehicles of this type were captured by the Germans during the first months of the war with the Soviet Union.
