The Davenport locomotive with a tanker wagon was developed by the American company Davenport Locomotive Works in the United States, which was founded in 1901. From the very beginning, it specialized in the construction of light locomotives, initially steam locomotives, and later diesel and electric locomotives. Interestingly, a large part of the company's production was exported, and the locomotives it produced often performed specialized and unusual transport tasks. The presented model was powered by a diesel engine and was adapted to travel on rails with a gauge of 762 mm. It was developed at the end of the 1930s, and one of its specific features is the driver's booth, the so-called plantation type, i.e. largely open, adapted in some way to work in a tropical climate. This should not be surprising because it was used in plantations in the Caribbean Sea and in South America.
