The PZL S-4 Kania was a Polish prototype training plane from the post-war period. The machine was built in a high-wing configuration, it featured a wooden structure and a classic-fixed undercarriage. The prototype flight took place in 1957. The drive was provided by a single M11D engine with 125 HP. The machine did not have any permanent on-board armament. The PZL S-4 Kania prototypes were produced by the WSK Mielec aviation company, based on the prototype PZL S-3 machine. In the years 1956-1957, based on the modified plans of the latter aircraft, a prototype of the PZL S-4 Kania 2 aircraft was created. However, due to the end of production of the M11D engines, serial production of these aircraft was not started. The resulting specimens were used in flying clubs in Krosno and Mielec for towing gliders. The last one was decommissioned by 1970.
