HMS Caroline was a British light cruiser of World War I and the interwar period. The keel for this unit was laid in January 1914, and the launch took place in September 1914. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 128 meters and a width of 12.6 meters. Full displacement reached approx. 4,700 tons, and the maximum speed was approx. 28-29 knots. The armament at the time of launching consisted of, among others, 2 single 152 mm guns or 8 single 102 mm guns. HMS Caroline was one of the C-Class light cruisers. The ships of this type were designed to be as fast as possible, largely destined to operate in the North Sea. The obvious opponent for units of this type were the light forces of the German Hochseeflotte. HMS Carolina took an active part in the World War I operations, fighting in the Battle of Jutland in 1916. In the period 1922-1924 the unit was in reserve, but after 1924 it returned to active service. During the next world war, she was stationed in the port of Belfast, acting as the port's floating headquarters and serving as sleeping ships for the crews of ships participating in the Atlantic convoys. After World War II, it was transferred to the reserve, serving as a school and training unit. At present, the unit functions as a museum ship.
