Kiji was a Japanese torpedo boat which launched in January 1937. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 88.5 m, width 8.2 m, and the actual full displacement - approx. 1000 tons. The ship's maximum speed was up to 30-31 knots. The on-board armament of the unit at the time of launching included, among others: 3 120 mm guns, a single 40 mm gun or three torpedo tubes. Kiji was one of the eight Otori-class torpedo boats. Ships of this type were ordered by the navy in 1934 and entered service in 1936-1937. During World War II in the Pacific, they were used extensively to protect Japanese convoys. Kiji served primarily as part of the 11th Torpedo Squadron. Like his sister units, he took part in convoy actions. In 1943, Kiji was severely damaged by an Allied air attack. He was the only one of his class to survive the war and surrendered in 1945. A year later, it was officially removed from the Japanese fleet list, and in 1947 it was transferred to the Soviet Union, where it served until 1957. .
