GERMAN TORPEDO-PLANE DAIMLER BENZ PROJECT F

Daimler Benz Projekt F is a project of a German missile-plane from the Second World War. The project was developed at the end of this armed conflict and it is not known whether any examples of Project F were produced. The aircraft was to be 12.96 meters long with a wingspan of 9 meters. The maximum speed was around 1050 km / h. The propulsion was to be provided by a single BMW 018 engine. The missile plane carried a warhead weighing 3,000 kilograms. Daimler Benz Project F as a very specific development of the V-1 missile. First of all, in the new weapon, the angle of attack of the wings was changed to oblique, which allowed to increase the speed, and the pilot's seat was added, making the new aircraft a missile plane. Interestingly, in theory, it was assumed that the pilot would have time to evacuate before the missile hit the target, but in reality it was very unrealistic. Thus, the Daimler Benz Project F was a de facto suicide weapon. It was assumed that this missile-plane would be flown into the air under a special mother-plane (Daimler Benz Project C) that would be capable of carrying 6 such missiles. The Daimler Benz Projekt F never entered mass production.
