Litovel is a small town in the Czech Republic, located approximately 20 kilometers from Olomouc. The city was probably founded around 1250 by the King of Bohemia, Přemysl Otakar II, but the first written sources about the city appear around 1270. At present, it is famous for two monuments. The first is the town hall, the building of which was acquired by the city council in 1557, and shortly afterwards it was rebuilt. First of all, a 70-meter-high town hall tower was added to it. The town hall building is currently located at Przemysl Otakar Square. The second important monument in Litovel is an unusual monument commemorating the victims of the plague epidemic that passed through the area in 1714. The monument was created in 1724 by Wacław Render, and the monument consists of - apart from the pedestal - six figures of saints (eg St. Roch or St. Sebastian) and the highest figure of the Virgin Mary.
