The BA-27 was a Soviet light six-wheeled armored car - the first to be fully developed in the USSR. The first prototypes were built in 1927, and serial production lasted from 1928 to 1931. The car was powered by an AMO 35 HP carburettor engine. It was armed with a 37mm Hotchkiss cannon and a single 7.62mm DT machine gun in a rotating turret. The BA-27 was created as a successor to numerous armored vehicles used by the Russian army during the First World War and during the civil war in Russia. Work was initiated at the AMO plant in Izhorsk, based on the AMO-F15 truck chassis. In the course of serial production (from 1929), the chassis was changed to GAZ-AAA. The vehicle changed in this way was designated BA-27M. In 1937, a few BA-27ŻD, i.e. armored draisines, were built. The BA-27 vehicles underwent their baptism of fire in the war with China in 1929. In the 1930s, the cars were already withdrawn from service, and only a few units took part in the Winter War with Finland (1939-1940).
