The Gemini program is the name of the US-led space flight program that ran from 1963 to 1966. It was the next step of the American space agency, which was to bring it closer to sending a man to the moon. It included new space maneuvers for NASA, such as the launch of astronauts into space or the connection and docking of two spacecraft. It also collected very carefully data on the impact of weightlessness on human physiology. As part of the program, McDonnell developed a special space capsule, which was to be used to implement the above-mentioned tasks and research goals. This capsule, in its basic version, was 5.67 meters high, 3.05 meters in diameter and weighed 3.85 tons. Its maximum time in orbit was 14 days. For those times, they were very technically advanced - suffice to say that it was the first American spacecraft to use its own on-board computer called Gemini Guidance Computer. During the implementation of the Gemini program, a total of 12 successful spaceflight flights, including 10 manned, were performed. The project, although costing the equivalent of today's USD 6-7 billion, ended with a complete technical and scientific success.Titan II (Eng. Tytan II) Gemini Launch Vehicle (English abbreviation: GLV) is an American carrier rocket, which was developed for the needs of manned space flights under the Gemini program. Her first successful start was in April 1964 and the last one in November 1966. There were 12 rocket launches during these years, all of which were successful. The length of the rocket was approximately 33 meters with a diameter of 3.05 meters. The mass of the rocket, including the Gemini, was approximately 154 tons. The Tytan II carrier rocket was a modernization of the ballistic missile SM-68B Titan II , commissioned in 1963. The main modernizations and changes included the use in the carrier rocket, among others, of a fault-finding installation, a backup flight control system or the introduction of a radio control system. All changes were made for NASA by the rocket manufacturer - Aerojet. The rocket consisted of two sections, the first of which was about 21 meters long, and the second - about 12 meters.
