1-2018 TACHIKAWA KI-9

The Tachikawa Ki-9 was a Japanese fixed-landing biplane training and training aircraft from the interwar period and World War II. The drive was provided by a single radial motor Hitachi Ha-13a with 350 hp. The prototype flight took place in 1935. Serial production continued in the years 1935-1945, ending with the production of about 2,620 copies of this aircraft. The Tachikawa Ki-9 was commissioned by the Imperial Japanese Army Command that needed a new basic and intermediate training aircraft. Initially, it was planned to create two different versions of this machine powered by engines of different power, but after testing the prototypes in flight in 1935, the idea was abandoned. During World War II, the Tachikawa Ki-9 was one of the most important training aircraft for pilots of the Imperial Army. At the end of the war, kamikaze pilots also studied elementary piloting. In 1945, some airplanes of this type were also prepared for such suicide attacks on the American invasion forces that were to attack Japan. After the end of World War II, aircraft of this type served in Indonesia, South Korea and Taiwan.
