Wando Hang Lighthouse, sometimes called the "Singing Lantern", is located on Wando Island, about 30 kilometers from Haenam City, in the southwestern tip of South Korea. The facility was commissioned in its present form in 2009. The lighthouse tower is 15 meters high, with the lighthouse itself rising 19 meters above sea level. The lantern emits two red light pulses every 6 seconds. Its significant distinguishing element is its unusual and highly avant-garde architecture, which gives the lantern the shape of a cylindrical spiral, topped with an open lantern at the top. In the evenings and at night, the lighthouse is illuminated, being a kind of tourist attraction in the port of Wando. The lighthouse is also subject to the administration of this port. It is worth adding that while the immediate vicinity of the Wando Hang lighthouse is most accessible to tourists, the lighthouse itself is closed to visitors.
