HMS Vega was a British destroyer from the period of: World War I, the interwar period and World War II. The keel for this unit was laid in 1916, the launch took place in September 1917, and the entry into service took place in December of the same year. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 95.1 meters and a width of 8.2 meters. The displacement reached approximately 1,300 tons, and the maximum speed was approximately 34 knots. The armament at the time of the launch consisted of, among others, four 102 mm guns or two 40 mm guns. HMS Vega was one of the Type V destroyers. The ships of this type were designed with the best performance and relatively strong artillery armament. They also focused on new technological solutions used on other British destroyers of the First World War and the period preceding it. Undoubtedly, when they entered service - from 1917 - they were modern and successful destroyers, but with time their combat value decreased. HMS Vega took part in the last months of World War I, during which it was slightly damaged. In 1921 she was transferred to the reserve, but in the summer of 1939 she was modernized and converted into an anti-aircraft ship and returned to active service. During World War II, the unit was primarily responsible for the protection of convoys sailing on the North Sea. During the war, more and more modern electronic and radio equipment was systematically installed on the vessel. At the end of 1945, HMS Vega was placed in reserve and sold for scrap in 1947.
