HSwMS Göta Lejon was a Swedish cruiser of World War II and the post-war period. The vessel was launched in November 1945, and it entered service in 1947. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 182 meters, and the width was 16.45 meters. Full displacement reached about 9,300 tons, and maximum speed - to about 33 knots. The on-board armament of the unit at the time of launching included: 7 152 mm Bofors, 20 40 mm guns and 6 torpedo tubes. The Göta Lejon was the second unit of the Tre Kronor cruiser class. The ships of this type were developed as a result of analyzes carried out by the Swedish Navy shortly after the outbreak of World War II. Their conclusions clearly indicated the necessity to have at least two well-armed cruisers - especially anti-aircraft weapons. The ship design was made at the Italian CRDA shipyard, and the Göta Lejon vessel was built at the Eriksbergs Mekaniska Verkstad shipyard in the city of Goteborg. Shortly after entering service, the ship underwent modernization, including: rebuilding superstructures, adding a radar or increasing the number of 40 mm guns. In the years 1957-1958, the unit underwent another reconstruction. As a result, she received a new radar and four 57 mm guns, and the number of 40 mm guns was reduced to 11. In 1971, the cruiser was sold to Chile, where it served under the name Almirante Latorre until 1984.
