Tobruk was a Libyan escort ship from the Cold War period. The total length of the ship was 54 meters and a width of 8.7 meters. Standard displacement was up to approx. 440 tons and the maximum speed did not exceed 18 knots. The unit's armament included a single 102mm cannon and four 40mm anti-aircraft guns. The crew consisted of 51 people. Tobruk was built in connection with the Libyan navy's desire in the early 1960s to acquire a modern, but possibly small, escort and multipurpose unit. The construction of the ship was entrusted to the Vosper Shipyard in Portsmouth, and the launch took place in 1966. The vessel had good seagoing prowess, more than enough for the Mediterranean Sea, as well as good maneuverability for this class of ships. It is worth adding that during its service it was also used as a training ship. Ultimately, Tobruk was decommissioned in 1989.
