Pafawag 201E (another designation: series 7E or series ET22) is a series of standard-gauge, heavy electric locomotives, which was produced in the years 1969-1989 at the Pafawag plant in Wrocław. The service weight of a single locomotive was 120 tons, and its length with buffers - 19.24 m. The average of the wheels is 1250 mm, with the Co'Co 'axis system. In total, about 1,200 copies of this locomotive were built. The ET22 series locomotive was developed in connection with the progressive electrification of Polish railway lines in the 1950s and 1960s and in connection with PKP's desire to have a heavy, electric locomotive dedicated to freight transport. The work on the new locomotive was undertaken by the Central Design Office of the Rolling Stock Industry in Poznań (currently: Research and Development Institute "Tabor"), trying to develop a universal locomotive intended for both passenger and freight transport. A far-reaching unification of electric motors and components with EU07 locomotives was also planned. ET22 series locomotives are operated mainly by PKP and PKP Cargo to this day. Morocco turned out to be one foreign recipient of this type of locomotive.
