Waryński K-408 is an excavator on a crawler chassis of Polish production from the post-war and modern times. The length of the vehicle's chassis is 2.99 meters, 2.65 meters wide and 2.92 meters high. In the course of production, various engines were used as the drive unit, including 4-cylinder engines from Leyland. The curb weight of the vehicle is approx. 10,500 kilograms. The presented excavator was developed and produced by Warszawskie Zakłady Maszyn Budowlanych im. Waryński. It is worth adding that these plants were established as early as 1833 and were originally ... a boiler workshop! Since 1920, the plants have already produced steam locomotives, but unfortunately the production plants were completely destroyed during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. From 1947, the process of their reconstruction was carried out. In 1952, the company adopted the name of Warszawskie Zakłady Maszyn Budowlanych im. Waryński, and a year later it produced the first tracked excavator in its history. From 1953, the production of construction machinery was the main activity of the plants. One of the excavators created in these plants was the K-408 model. This excavator was characterized by a relatively solid construction, with good - for those times - ergonomics of operation and economy of use. On the other hand, it was able to work successfully even in very difficult off-road conditions. As a curiosity, it can be noted that the used Waryński K-408 excavators are still offered for sale today and their price ranges from about 20,000 to even 40,000 PLN gross!
