The IT-28 is a Soviet bridge and engineering tank from the interwar period and World War II. Cars of this type were developed in 1940. Serial production data is ambiguous and it may have been in 1940-1941. The drive was provided by a single, 12-cylinder M-17 engine 500 hp, which allowed the car to accelerate to 30 km / h on the road. The armament consisted of two 7.62 mm DT machineguns. The IT-28 vehicle was developed at the Kirov Works in the then Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) as a development version of the T-28 tank. Compared to its prototype, it did not have a 76.2 mm gun turret, in which a superstructure (casemates) was built. The truck was also equipped with a specialized device for arranging bridges. Its armament was also reduced to two MGs. Interestingly, however, relatively thick armor, reaching even 50 mm, has been preserved. IT-28 was to provide technical and engineering support to Soviet armored and motorized units. It is worth noting that it is not known whether the car entered mass production and whether any of its copies actively participated in the fighting on the Eastern Front in 1941 or 1942.
