The EADS CASA C-295 is a modern short-range and medium-range turboprop transport aircraft in the high wing system with a triple-support landing gear - retractable in flight. The flight of the aircraft took place in 1997, and its production started in 1999 and is still going on. By the end of 2017, 163 machines of this type had been built. The drive - in the C-295M version - is provided by two Pratt and Whitney Canada PW127G turboprop engines with a capacity of 2645 KM each. The unit cost of the plane is estimated at $ 28 million by. 2013 prices. The EADS CASA C-295 was built as a development of the C-235 aircraft. Compared to its predecessor, its aerodynamic properties were improved, a slightly changed avionics was used, and above all - it was used as a power unit for other engines. All these changes led to a significant increase in flight range, weight of transported cargo and maximum speed. Several development versions were created in the course of production, including: C-295M (military transport version), C-295 MPA (sea patrol version) or C-295 SAR (search and rescue aircraft). The C-295 aircraft is considered to be one of the best in its class and undoubtedly enjoyed considerable commercial success. One of its users is the Polish Air Force, which currently operates 16 machines of this type.
