The USCG-20 was an American cutter, also known as a patrol boat, from the Second World War. The total length of the vessel was 25 m, width 4.9 m, with the freeboard height of 1.6 m. The drive was provided by two Stirling Viking II internal combustion engines. The USCG-20 belonged to the class of cutters referred to as 83-foot patrol boats that were mass-built during World War II primarily by the shipyard Wheeler Shipyard in the New York City area. It is estimated that about 230 units of this type were created in total. They were constructed for the use of the US Coast Guard (USCG for short) as coastal patrol and surveillance units. It is worth adding that about 60 units of this type (including USCG-20) was dispatched to Great Britain in 1943-1944 and took part in Operation Overlord on June 6, 1944 and later in June-December 1944. They were used primarily to rescue sailors and soldiers from the sea. To date, only a single unit of this type has survived.
