The BMW M1 is a German sports and racing car, presented to the public for the first time in 1978 at the Paris Motor Show. Serial production of this model was carried out in the years 1978-1981 - a total of 457 examples of this car were produced in its course. The car was powered by a single, 6-cylinder in-line engine with 277 HP. It allowed the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 260 km / h. The BMW M1 was the first car created by BMW Motorsport - a special branch of the company dealing with motorsport and the production of sports and racing cars. It was also, so far, the company's only mid-engined longitudinal car to be approved for traditional road traffic. The car's body was designed by Giorgietto Giugiaro, who was clearly inspired by the BMW Turbo concept car. The car was also powered by a modern engine at that time, which in the improved turbocharged versions reached up to 850 HP! The BMW M1 is widely recognized as one of the most successful sports and racing cars of the late 1970s and 1980s. Used copies of this car can currently reach prices of PLN 2.2 million.
