RMS Caronia is a British passenger ship from the post-war period. The keel for this unit was laid in 1946, the launch took place in October 1947, and commissioning took place in December 1948. The vessel set out on its maiden voyage in January 1949. The overall length of the ship was 217.9 meters, the overall width was 27.8 meters, and the draft was 9.66 meters. The maximum speed did not exceed 22 knots. The ship could take up to 930 passengers on board. RMS Caronia was built at the John Brown and Company shipyard in Clydebank, Scotland, commissioned by the shipping line Cunard White Star Line (now: Cunard Line). The unit quickly acquired the unofficial name "Green Goddess" and this colloquial phrase stuck to it throughout its service. From the very beginning, the unit was designed primarily to handle transatlantic passenger traffic, but also to handle broadly understood tourist traffic. One can risk the statement that in the years 1949-1959 it was undoubtedly one of the most modern British passenger ships, setting to some extent trends in ocean shipping. The vessel sailed under the British flag until 1968, when it found its way to the Panamanian shipowner. It served under the flag of this country until 1974, when it was sold for scrap.
