The presented refrigerated wagon was manufactured in the Beuchelt und Co. based in today's Zielona Góra, in 1902. It is worth adding at this point that the aforementioned company was founded by Georg Beuchelt in 1876, who became its sole owner in 1880, but it was only from 1886 that the company began to produce all types of railway carriages: freight and passenger (including as one of the first in Germany - the so-called Pulman wagons) or specialist wagons, such as ice-cream wagons or cisterns. In the period 1886-1926, the factory produced nearly 24,500 wagons of various types! It is worth adding that based on the Beuchelt und Co. Zastal plants were established just after 1945 - one of the most important railway companies in Poland in the second half of the 20th century. Returning to the presented wagon-refrigerator - it was operated by the prince of Pszczyna on his estate to transport beer from the brewery in Tychy. The wagon had axles with a distance of 4 meters. It was constructed in such a way that the ice was poured through an opening in the roof and it landed in special tubs over the hop liquid transported in large barrels. The beer itself was loaded and unloaded using inclined ramps.
