The Dornier Do 18 was a German high-wing boat from the interwar period and World War II. The machine was first flew in 1935, and its serial production was carried out in the years 1938-1940. The drive was provided by two motors Junkers Jumo-205D with 880 hp each. The plane was 19.37 meters long with a wingspan of 23.7 meters. The deck armament - in the Do 18 G version - consisted of a single 13 mm machine gun and a single 20 mm cannon. The machine could also carry a load of bombs weighing up to 200 kilograms. The Do 18 model was developed by Dornier Flugzeugwerke GmbH as a long-range flying boat to complement the Dornier Do J aircraft. Compared to the Do J, the new aircraft had improved aerodynamics, a different power unit, and different sizes. Interestingly, however, the system with two propellers - one pushing and one pulling - has been preserved. Also originally, the Do 18 was a civilian machine. It was not until 1939 that the first military version (Do 18 D) was developed, with other propulsion units and armament consisting of two machine guns. Later, another military version appeared - the Do 18 G with changed on-board weapons and more powerful engines.
