SMS Friedrich der Grosse was a German battleship (so-called dreadnought) from the First World War. The keel for this unit was laid in 1910, the launch took place in June 1911, and entry into service in Kaiserliche Marine - in 1912. The length of the ship was 172.4 meters and a width of 29 meters. Full displacement reached about 27,000 tons, and maximum speed - to about 22-23 knots. The deck armament, at the time of launch, consisted of 10 305 mm guns placed in five turrets of two guns, 14 150 mm guns, 12 88 mm guns, and 5 torpedo tubes. SMS Friedrich der Grosse was one of five Kaiser-class battleships. They were the first German dreadnoughts powered by steam turbines. Compared to the predecessors of the types of German battleships (Helgoland and Nassau), they received a new layout of the main artillery, which allowed for a broadside salvo from all guns. SMS Friedrich der Grosse was built at the AG Vulcan shipyard in Hamburg. The ship took part in many activities of the German fleet in the North Sea during the First World War. First of all, he participated in the Battle of Jutland (1916), during which he did not suffer any serious damage. After the end of the war, SMS Friedrich der Grosse was interned at the British base at Scapa Flow, where he was sunk by his own crew on June 21, 1919. A few years later, it was excavated by the British and scrapped in 1936-1937.
