The Yakovlev AIR-3 was a Soviet prototype high-wing training and training aircraft from the interwar period. The prototype flight took place in 1929, but the machine did not enter serial production. Initially, the drive was provided by a single Walter I engine with a capacity of 60 HP, and later - by the M-23 engine with a capacity of 65 HP. The plane did not have on-board weapons. The machine was 7.1 m long with a wingspan of 11 m. The Yakovlev AIR-3 was created as a far-reaching modification of the AIR-2 aircraft. It shared many solutions and construction elements with its predecessor, mainly the fuselage, chassis and tail. However, it had one major difference - it was constructed in the arrangement of a high wing, not a biplane. The plane was also characterized by a fully wooden structure - therefore it can be assumed that it would be relatively simple and cheap to produce. What's more, in the course of the tests, it turned out to be quite successful, especially with a good top speed. However, serial production of the Yakovlev AIR-3 was not undertaken.
