Schleppfahrzeug Grosse II is the so-called electric shunting locomotive manufactured by AEG for the waterworks in the city of Hildesheim in 1930. The locomotive was characterized by small dimensions - its length is only 2.85 meters, and its width - 2.5 meters. It was adapted to run on a 1435 mm wide track with a maximum speed of 5 km / h. The Schleppfahrzeug Grosse II is an example of an electric industrial locomotive, the type of which was created to replace (from the beginning of the 20th century) the steam locomotives used so far. The use of electricity to drive these types of locomotives made them much safer than their predecessors, and also simplified their construction. They had a drive generated from internal batteries, which also increased their autonomy - and this solution was also used in the Schleppfahrzeug Grosse II.
