NLV Pharos is a British, multi-functional, civilian sea buoy, which was built in the Polish Remontowa Shipyard in Gdańsk. The vessel was ordered in 2004, the launch took place in February 2006, and the vessel was commissioned in May 2007. The total length of the vessel is 84.2 meters with a width of 16.5 meters. Full displacement reaches approximately 3,600 tons, and the maximum speed does not exceed 13-14 knots. The unit can also conduct operations with the use of an on-board helicopter. The NLV Pharos, together with its sister unit, the NLV Galatea, has been constructed and designed to independently perform any maintenance, repair or replacement of sea buoys. NLV Pharos is also characterized by good seaworthiness and can operate in open waters to perform tasks such as towing or hydrographic surveys. The unit is characterized by modern electronic equipment, especially communication and positioning equipment. The unit operates primarily off the coast of Scotland and the Isle of Man.
