KH1-2014 POLSKI SAMOCHÓD CIĘŻAROWY STAR 660

Star 660 is a Polish off-road military truck manufactured by Fabryka Samochodowych "Star" in Starachowice. The first copies of this vehicle were built in 1965, and serial production continued in 1965-1983. The vehicle was powered by a single petrol or diesel engine - depending on the version - ranging from 105 to 150 HP. The Star 660 was created as a far-reaching development of the Star 66 truck. Compared to the original, the ergonomics of the vehicle was significantly improved, and its reliability was also increased. In later versions, engines with higher maximum power were also installed. Three main development versions of this car were created in the course of serial production. The first is the Star 660M1, developed in 1965. It had modernized shock absorbers and a braking system. In 1968, a version of the Star 660M2 appeared with the roofing of the driver's cabin made mainly of steel and the changed electrical installation, resistant to spilling. Also in 1968, the Star 660D model entered production, which from 1970 was powered by the new S359 engine with 150 hp. Based on the Star 660 cars, several specialist vehicles were created, such as the SMT-1 Companion Folding Bridge or the K-407B excavator car.
