The Heinkel He-1078 is a never-realized jet fighter project that was developed in the period 1944-1945. There were three concepts for this remarkably atypical machine. The first, designated Heinkel He P.1078A, had a high-wing configuration, with a three-wheeled undercarriage and oblique wings in a flat M. The second version - Heinkel He P.1078B - had a tailless flying wing configuration with two fuselage elements, one of which housed the engine and the pilot's cabin. Finally, the third version, the Heinkel He P.1078C, assumed a tailless aircraft with a short fuselage and - again - wings in a flattened M configuration. It was planned to use the Heinkel Hirth On s 011 engine as the drive.
